Artist: Cyprian Libera
Q: Do I need to be an "artist" to participate?
A: No, everyone is welcome. It does not matter if you are a beginner, advanced or a seasoned artist. Basic Inquiry is the perfect location for anyone to practice figure drawing and painting at reasonable rates.
Q: Do I need to become a member?
A: No, you can just pay a drop-in fee and come as often as you like. If you find that Basic Inquiry is what suits you, you might want to become a member to take advantage of the various member advantages (discounts, the possibility to show your work in a solo or group show, etc).
Q: What do I need to bring to a session?
A: Basic Inquiry provides easels, drawing boards, drawing horses, and paper clips. Newsprint can be purchased at low cost. All you need to bring are pens, art paper (if you don't want to use newsprint), pencils, brushes, paint or whatever medium you prefer to work in.
Q: How long has Basic been around?
A: Basic Inquiry was established in 1983 by Gerry Kelly to give artists a space to draw and paint nude models. The studio was named by Maurice Spira who said "Life drawing is a basic inquiry into the human form."
